‘The Wyldewoods’ has been shortlisted for The Anna Whitehead Prize for Sustainability at the British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) Awards 2026.
Delivered in partnership with Retirement Villages Group (RVG), The Wyldewoods was conceived as a benchmark for contemporary retirement living, combining luxury hospitality-inspired interiors with a strong focus on sustainability, wellbeing and community.
As appointed interior designers, we developed a design strategy centred on longevity, adaptability and social connection. The scheme integrates circular economy principles, durable low-impact materials, biophilic design and flexible communal spaces that support resident wellbeing while reducing long-term environmental impact.
The project forms part of RVG’s Thrive Living collection and is the first community delivered under the organisation’s net-zero strategy. Through close collaboration with the client team, contractors and specialist partners, Bernard Interiors helped create a future-ready environment that achieves net-zero carbon operations while providing residents with a welcoming, elegant and highly functional place to live.
Sustainability is embedded within our design approach. As a Future Plus Certified practice, the studio is committed to advancing environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles across every project. This recognition reflects the rigour of the practice’s sustainability strategies and its commitment to creating resilient, future-ready environments that deliver long-term value for clients, communities and the planet.
The BIID shortlisting is a significant recognition of The Wyldewoods’ holistic approach to sustainability, demonstrating how thoughtful interior design can contribute meaningfully to environmental performance, social wellbeing and community resilience.
