Kerry joined us just before Christmas in a brand new role as Studio Coordinator & PA and will be supporting our team operationally, ensuring our busy studio continues to run efficiently and smoothly. Graduating from Northumbria University with a degree in IT, Kerry has since worked in a variety of sectors. With a wealth of experience in both client focused and administrative roles, she is extremely organised and adaptable. We asked Kerry to share a little more about herself, how she’s settling in and what drew her to the role…
Can you tell us a little bit about what you were doing before you joined the Bernard Interiors team?
I have been working in the TV industry for the last fifteen years whilst juggling being mum to two children. I have worked mainly in drama for the BBC and ITV as a supervisor within the Makeup Department. A role that was administrative as well as creative, organising the day to day running of the department, keeping on top of the continuity, and running to an ever changing, tight schedule.
What drew you to the Studio Coordinator role?
When I read the job description, I felt like it was written for me! I wanted to continue to work in a creative environment and loved the buzz of the studio when I came for my interview. I had heard and read a lot about Bernard Interiors and knew that it was somewhere I would like to work.
How are you settling into studio life?
Everyone has taken the time to make me feel part of the team from day one.
Do you have an interest in interior design?
I did History of Art at A-Level and particularly loved the architectural part of my studies which peaked my initial interest in buildings and design. I have a real appreciation for interior design and love to pour over interior magazines and follow a real mix of interior Instagram accounts.
What do you get up to outside of work?
I did the couch to 5K in November last year when the gyms closed, and I’ve kept it up to my surprise. I run two or three times a week. The rest of my time is spent with my kids, Oscar and Darcey and our new kitten Goggles.
What’s your favourite thing about living in the north east?
Being so close to both coast and country, everything you need is on the doorstep.
