Introducing Kyra, Our New FF&E Designer

Bernard Interiors are excited to welcome Kyra, a local FF&E designer to the team.  Here we talk to Kyra about her design inspiration and living in the north east…….

Can you tell us a little bit about what you were doing before you joined the Bernard Interiors team?

Before Bernard, I worked in the North East and Yorkshire as an interior designer for a Danish Furniture company, BoConcept. Helping find the perfect interior solutions for a range of residential clients throughout the UK.

How are you settling into studio life?

The guys have been super accommodating, and I am settling in very well. It has been lovely joining such a supportive and friendly team. Loads of exciting projects happening too, I’m looking forward to getting stuck in.

Do you have a personal favourite design style, era or designer?

I have always loved Scandinavian design, with a mix of mid-century modern. When I was in Copenhagen, I visited the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel room 606, a time-capsule of Danish mid-century modern design and show cases Arne Jacobsen’s most treasured designs, including the iconic “Egg” chair. As well as that, I would say I take inspiration from the Bauhaus movement and Art Deco style too.

What do you get up to outside of work?

Outside of work I socialise with my friends and family a lot, you’ll normally find me around the Ouseburn area. I love an art class or exercise class too – I’m currently being asked by a friend to try something called Aerial Pilates, so we’ll see how that turns out!

What’s your favourite thing about living in the north east?

I’ve lived in Newcastle all my life so it would be easy to say everything! I love our coastline here in the North East so I try to spend as much time there as possible. Overall, I think my favourite thing about Newcastle is how friendly Geordies are!

It’s inspiring being able to collaborate with such a talented and passionate team
