Introducing Our New Graduate Interior Designer Danika

Bernard Interiors are excited to welcome Danika, a graduate Interior Designer to the team.  Here we talk to Danika about her design inspiration and her recent move from Australia…….

What were you doing before joining Bernard Interiors?

Before coming to Bernard, I was living in Melbourne working as an interior stylist in the residential sector. It was insightful to see how design styles vary depending on the climate and environment.

How are you settling into studio life at Bernard Interiors?

It’s so nice to be able to come in every day and have such a beautiful space to work in. Everyone has been so welcoming and friendly, so I feel like I have settled in really well.

What are you working on at the moment?

I’m currently working on the concept design for a later living project, which has been really exciting. The style is very different from anything I have done before so I have really enjoyed expanding my design style.

What is your favourite part of the design process?

I think the initial stages of a design process is always the most fun, as I think this is also where you get to be the most creative. I also love how rewarding it is to see it all come together in the fit-out right at the end.

Who inspires you in the design world?

I love minimalist design and the cross-over between old and new to create a classic, timeless look. I find inspiration from a heap of designers such as Alyssa Kapito and John Saladino to name just a few, as well as my colleagues in the studio!

What do you get up to outside of work?

I love to travel.  My friends have moved all over the country which means I get to explore lots of new cities when I visit them. I also really enjoy anything active and love keeping fit- currently on the hunt for a good pilates studio!

What’s your favourite thing about living in the northeast?

I love how close by everything is. Not far to the mountains or the ocean so lots of fun days out on the weekend!

Working in interior design can be such a rewarding job, and it’s super exciting to get to do it alongside such a creative, hardworking and fun team.
